Quick update

Only a quick update, Painters continued their efforts this week and Wow! they have done so much in a short period of time. Amazing.

Wish I could say the same for our Kitchen.... they are running behind and it's been dissapointing but should now go in on Tuesday (fingers crossed)... Also garage doors are going on Wednesday so next weekend's visit should be different... Can't wait!

Feature walls got painted this week and I am so happy with the colour - I love it and I think it will go so well with our existing furniture.

Feature Wall colour in the sunken lounge

Front door stained and internal doors corrected to white (accidentally stained them)

Front render painted (Taubmans Athena)

Feature wall at the back of family/meals same as lounge

My fingers and toes are crossed for a kitchen this week.... Should still look at handover for Feb.

WE HAVE PAINT AND LOTS OF PHOTOS!!

So this afternoon, we decided to go for a drive out to the house. DH was there yesterday and the painters were at work painting away. They apparently said they were working today too, being a Sunday I didn't like our chances but took a punt. being at lock up not much to see if you can'te get in.... but at 5:45pm there they were in the thick of it, I could not believe it- we left at 6:30pm and they were still there.... amazing  thank you painters  ::  :: Thank you daylight savings  ::
Paint job looks great too and if there is anything DH has grilled or warned our SS about it's the paint job. He has not seen a good paint job in any display home, there is always some rough area, and as little as it may be he will find it... so they have been warned. His opinion is, if it's your profession then be good at it so the cutting in will need to be perfect...
So got a load of photo's as the ceilings, cornices, all doors and first coat on walls are done - not bad for 4 days work..  ::surprise::  Front doors are also stained - Unfortunately they also stained our internal glass doors at the other end of the entry foyer so they need to make these white.
All white is taubman's Crisp White and all walls are Crystal gazing. Feature walls not done yet but will be foxtail.
Also, cornices have also been put on the bathrooms and also painted.

Here's some photo's:

Front doors - stained Jarrah - first coat on

Home theatre bulkhead - we will re-paint this room post hand over in a very dark grey - any dark suggestions happy to hear!!

looking from the end of family/meals back to the kitchen

Looking from family meals to alfresco and rumpus (any window covering suggestions... happy to hear). all windows will be white plantations

looking from kitchen in to sunken lounge- door way back right takes us to the end of the bedroom hallway (master) saves walking all the way around for a midnight snack!

Looking from the mud room (spare space after you enter the house from the garage before the hallway for dirty shoes?? - architect named this space when helping with our design) and looking in to the garage

looking from end of garage back to the house. rear garage roller door back right for ride on access, also normal walkthrough door to garden and internal house door to mud room, storage room followed by laundry and powder room

looking at our master bedroom doors to the back garden

From master entry to ensuite and WIR on the right with TV neiche in the middle. Bed sits on the opposite wall to the tv.

Bedroom hallway neiche (bedroom 2 end)

bedroom hallway neiche (opposite end to above (master end)) - can just see DS's room door (left), then right is the square set opening menioned above from sunken lounge, last door on right is master and around the left of the neiche is bed 4

Master bathroom to hallway (toilet to go behind the door)

3 way bathroom looking from DS room through main bath to Bed 2

Main hallway (standing at end of main entry foyer) looking to powder room, also through sunken lounge to kitchen and rumpus/alfresco beyond. lounge fireplace have decided on wood fire so should heat all through to the kitchen and family/meals too

So that's it - Painters said they will still be about 2 weeks (they have a lot to paint). Kitchen to arrive tomorrow followed by stone mason and then final touches.... that will be about it I think... Yay!

bathroom tiling photos

Met with the SS today and fixed the shower tiling issue. Basically going to cut the waterproof angle back to under the grout line, remove about 6 surrounding tiles that stem across the shower opening that sit either side of the angle and re-tile using something else I can't remember the name of.

In the end, it will just be all tiles but there will be a hairline crack (as you get around your floor wastes) to prevent the tiles cracking as the slab moves.. Also, the tiles will incline up from the shower floor so the water will run back in to the shower waste - so fingers crossed that works out.

Painter started today and should take about a week.

Kitchen should be delivered Friday or Monday followed quickly by the stone mason so by the end of next week it should really look great.

Anyway - took a few photo's of the bathrooms - so we have:

Ensuite

Looking in from Master

My freestanding bath will sit in front of the wall - feature tile to still be put in

Main Bathroom (3-Way)

looking in from hallway

looking from bed 2 through bathroom to Bed 3

Oh - and also the water tank arrived... bit by bit, we're getting there..

New Year Updates

HAPPY NEW YEAR !!!

Well, there have been a few changes over the Christmas period but no photo's yet as I left my Camera at my mother's and my phone photo's are terrible.

So, all skirtings, cornices and doors are finished - carpenter was amazing and did a fabulous job... THANKYOU!

All bathrrom and Laundry tiling has been completed. The tilers worked from around the 3rd and we went out yesterday to see that it was all pretty much finished. They will need to come back to do the laundry wall tiles once the cabinetry has gone in.

Colours look nice and happy with them, I am sure once they are all clean and shiny they will be even better. Only part I am not happy with and happens to be my pet hate - the grout line from the wall tile does not meet the grout line of the floor tile where they meet - this is basic tiling to me and not something I thought I had to emphasise - but anyone building, insure you mention this as you don't want a beautiful bathroom with all the grout lines out of alignment. All the tiles are 300mm wide so no reason to not make sure they followed the same line. (Floors are 300x300mm and walls are 600mmx300mm). They are not out by much, but enough for me to notice.

The only other slight issue (could be major not sure yet) with the ensuite. Tilers did not tile high enough near the shower opening. Should be flush with the angle, but instead is about 4cm lower so we have the visible metal strip running across the shower entry above the tile height. Possibly ok if you had a shower door but we have don't have a shower door - hence it has to be fixed. Can't just remove it and tile over it as then the shower floor and ensuite floor are going to be the same height. There is supposed to be a little lip where the shower floor is slightly lower than the main floor to stop water coming out. Anyway, Kurmond are back Monday so I'll chat to our SS then and they will need to work it out - if any other past hiccups are anything to go by, I am sure it will be rectified quickly. The only way to fix it properly would be to remove all the tiles from the ensuite floor, re-screed to the right level and re-tile..... don't see that happening somehow, I'll update on this one.

Anyway apart from that all is going well - Kitchen coming in on Tuesday..... So excited, I can't wait. Need to pay for all our appliances next week and pay and pick up our kitchen sink so they can cut out the correct hole so we can put it in. Have I mentioned.... I love the kitchen sink (toughened Glass) and tap - I think it will be a real feature in the white stone top.

Anyway, Will update again and add photo's once I get my camera back.
